We believe that those who want to follow Jesus ought to follow his example by being immersed in water as part of the process of turning away from their old lives and following God (what the Bible calls 'baptism').
We believe that water baptism is an important step in our journey with God. It is a moment when we declare our faith in Jesus and is part of the way we leave our old life behind and are made more like him.
We don't baptise babies because we believe that only those who have decided for themselves that they want to follow Jesus should be baptised. We prefer to celebrate the gift of children and to pray for God's blessing on them at a Child Blessing service.
