Social Action

"Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon." (Isaiah 58:10)

We believe that as followers of Jesus we should show God's love by caring for the world and for the people around us. That is why we support a number of local, national and international charities.

Love Hersham

During Lent 2023 we will join with the other Hersham Churches for Love Hersham. The aim of Love Hersham is to show love to our community by taking on a series of social action projects to serve our community.  As churches we take seriously Jesus’ call to love our neighbours and we invited the residents of Hersham to join us in this exciting project.  Take a look at the website www.lovehersham.co.uk to find out more.

Community Project Support

We work closely with Walton and Hersham Foodbank to support the work they do in the community providing 3 day emergency food parcels to people experiencing crisis.  If you are struggling to put food on the table then please do get in touch and we can help you access the support you need.  We also take up food collections for the Foodbank at different times throughout the year.  See the Foodbank wesbite for details of the most needed items.

On Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12pm we host a Breatsfeeding Support Group run by health visitors from Children's Health Surrey.  This is a free drop-in group.  Take a look at their website for more information.

Ukraine Support

One of our former church members is now living in Poland where her church is actively involved in supporting Ukrianian refugees, providing them with food, shelter and ongoing support, as well as taking care packages across the border into Ukriane.  We stand together with our brothers & sisters in Poland and are supporting their work with Ukrainian refugees.  You can find out more about their work here.

Charities and Missionaries we support regularly

Each year in the run up to Christmas we make up shoeboxes of gifts for Operation Christmas Child - the project to send gifts to children who wouldn't otherwise get any presents through the charity Samaritans Purse.

As part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain we support Home Mission and BMS World Mission as they help churches and individuals to bring the love of God to communities far and wide.

The children of HBC give monthly to Compassion to support a child overseas.

We also support a number of missionaries working for overseas charities.  For more information on these please click on the links below.
